We are the German-Yemeni Centre for Peace and Development e.V. (GYC), an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peace and sustainable development in Yemen. Founded by dedicated Yemeni academics, both at home and abroad, we work purposefully to bring about positive change through our projects in the fields of education, health, economic empowerment and peacebuilding.
Our work focuses in particular on supporting women and girls who are severely disadvantaged by the ongoing conflict. Through targeted measures, we strive to improve their quality of life and enable them to become active and equal members of society. Through various initiatives, we also promote cultural understanding and the building of communities based on the principles of peace and tolerance.
In all our efforts, we place great emphasis on creating sustainable solutions that help the people of Yemen break out of the cycle of poverty and conflict. We firmly believe that education and economic empowerment are the keys to lasting peace and development. By providing resources and creating educational opportunities, we open up new perspectives and hope for a better future .
Our Vision
is to create a community where every woman can reach her full potential through education, economic opportunities, and peace building.
Our Values
Transparency, impartiality, creativity and empowerment.
Our Mission
Education
Our goal is to empower Yemeni girls through quality education and skills development to ensure that every girl has the right to a comprehensive, safe and quality education. We are committed to bridging the gender gap in education and reducing the gap in literacy rates between boys and girls.
Health
Improving healthcare in rural areas and addressing the lack of health insurance by rehabilitating health centers and offering training courses for healthcare workers. Our goal is to increase health awareness in rural communities, ensure access to health services and support existing health centers, especially for pregnant women, nursing mothers and children.
Economic empowerment of women
This area focuses on promoting women's economic independence and entrepreneurship. Economic empowerment programs often include training in business management, the provision of microcredits and the promotion of women's networks that provide support in accessing markets and resources. The aim is to provide women with the necessary tools and knowledge to develop their own sources of income and improve their economic situation. This not only contributes to women's financial independence, but also strengthens their position in society and promotes equality.
