About Us
About US
The German-Yemeni Centre for Peace and Development (GYC) is an independent organization dedicated to promoting peace and supporting the development of Yemen. Established in 2020 by a group of researchers and activists, the GYC aims to foster universal values and enhance development cooperation between Yemen and various stakeholders, with a particular focus on Germany. The center engages in both research and non-research activities to achieve its objectives.
OUR VISION
To build a peaceful and developed Yemen where every individual, regardless of gender or background, has access to quality education, transparent governance, and improved health care.
OUR MISSION
Education
Empowering Yemeni girls through quality education and skills development to ensure every girl has the right to receive a high-quality, safe, and comprehensive education. We aim to bridge the gender gap in education and reduce the disparity in literacy rates between boys and girls.
Governance
Applying governance principles to enhance opportunities for peace and development in Yemen. We strive to promote good governance, transparency, citizen empowerment, and governmental integrity. By fostering cooperation between governments, civil society, and the private sector, we aim to create a stable and equitable decision-making process, free from negative regional and international influence.
Peace building
Creating the conditions for social coexistence and a society that rejects violence, extremism, regionalism, and the culture of hatred. Our peacebuilding projects focus on promoting peaceful coexistence and rejecting divisive ideologies through awareness campaigns and media capacity building. We aim to contribute to social cohesion and stability in Yemen.
Health
Improving health care in rural areas and addressing the lack of health insurance by rehabilitating health centers and providing educational courses for health sector employees. Our goal is to increase health awareness in rural communities, ensure access to health care services, and support existing health centers, especially for pregnant, lactating women, and children.
